ABOUT
Illustration and animation for animated explainer film to introduce the ideas in 'A Likely Story' by Omar F. Hamouda.
Including a 7-8-minute shorter version narrated only by the author, and a second longer form version with the addition of 'slide interludes' narrated by Betsey Price.
In the author's words:
A Likely Story describes how an economy, gripped by increasing capital accumulation, which imposes a continuously decreasing labour-to-capital ratio, grants legal privileges to some but not to others, state money and credit expansion, in the hands of self-serving, private, financial institutionsinevitably lead to monopolization in the processes of production, to power domination in investment decisions and to structural income disparity.
Using figurative characters, with a touch of humor, in a series of substories, A Likely Story narrates how income distribution is determined and how it leads to different ways of life.
AIM
To present the ideas in 'A Likely Story' to potential readers, in an engaging short film that encompasses the economic themes behind the story and introduces the characters that embody them for viewers who might wish to delve deeper.
